The aim of the project is to develop an instrument that simultaneously enables emission-based engine diagnostics and environmental load determination under real driving conditions. Moreover, the instrument’s laser-photoacoustic analyzer unit is expected to surpass the technologies currently used for measuring particulate emissions in almost all relevant parameters, providing engine developers and car manufacturers with novel quantitative and qualitative information that is indispensable for efficient emission-based engine development, which will enable the development of more efficient diesel or gasoline engines that meet increasingly stringent emission standards. Therefore, in case of successful implementation, the Laser Box Rapid emission measurement technology will not only gain a share in the existing market as a more advanced version of instruments for engine diagnostics, but also carries the chance of developing completely new, previously non-existent markets.
